All Saints Church and The Banner Public House

All Saints Parish Church and The Banner Public House Hindley.

The first Church in Hindley was built in 1641 and was know as Hindley Chapel. For the first 50 years it past to and fro between Anglicans and Presbyterians. In 1698 a decree from the Ducy Court of Westminster gave the chapel to the Church of England and it was reconsecrated by the Bishop of Chester in 1698.

The Parish Church if All Saints was rebuilt in 1766, replacing the previous building. Until 1838 it served as Parish Church for Hindley, Abram and part of Aspull. In 1838 Abram became a separate parish, in 1866 St. Peter's (Hindley) parish was created and in 1906 St. John's (Hindley). Go Back
