Marsden Moor

.

Above the small West Yorkshire town of Marsden, which nestles in a valley in the South Pennine Hills;
between Oldham in Lancashire and Huddersfield in Yorkshire.

Walking with Anchor Rambers of Leigh, in January 2010 [C Walk].

Views as we climbed out of the town, soon after this we were in cloud/mist and unable to see the views.

Our walk leader had chosen this route because of the spectacular views!

The above photographs give some idea of the restricted visablilty.
Except that the camera and image processing software have increased the visability on these images!

(above) Out of the clouds again and a view of a reservoir and the ice and snow on the hills.

We entered a gully from the higher right hand path and left on the lower left hand path.
in between we had to cross a stream, between two falls.

The lower falls.

The higher falls.

Waiting for the party to cross.

Some of the party crossing; the higher falls to the left, the lower falls to the right.

Ice and snow on the high moor.

Way marker donated by Abbotsfield Fell Walkers of Flixton.

The descent back down into Marsden.

Photographs by David Welch. Taken with a Canon Digital IXUS 95is.
