Spring Programme 2005

Following the Christmas break Leigh Folk Club's 2005 spring season starts on Friday the 28th of January.

Happy New Year to you all from all the Group 'CALICO' and we would like to thank you for all your support in keeping music live in LEIGH. Well here we are in 2005 with another year of great entertainment for you. Please spread the word and bring your friends, all are welcome.

Friday 28th of January Singers Night.
If you want to gain experience entertaining an audience, you are and artistes looking for bookings, just enjoy entertaining people, or just want to be entertained, this is just the night for you. All entertainers must be at the club before 8pm. This is a real fun night come and join us. Kick off 8-15pm.

Friday 25th of February Vin Garbutt   Rosie Doonan and Ben Murray, Ticket Only.
Vin would like to profusely apologise to all of you who have been disappointed by the cancellation of several concerts this week. Vin was admitted to hospital on Wednesday following the onset of mild respiratory problems. He is now undergoing tests to ascertain the appropriate course of treatment. His consultant has found the cause of the problem which I would stress is not life threatening and Vin is now feeling much better. He is cheerful and receiving visitors and I will keep you all posted as to his condition. Vin Garbutt is one of the most genuinely popular artistes that the folk revival has produced. He is a genuinely warm and funny man whose popularity and thought provoking songs have made him one of the most sought after entertainers of our time. TICKET ONLY £7 AVAILABLE FROM. Luckily a high caliber replacement has been found for Vin, in the acclaimed duo of Rosie Doonan and Ben Murray. Price £5 on the door.


Saturday 5th of March Joe's Night, Ticket Only.
This is our annual Charity Night in memory of Joe Roberts, a dear friend and on of the founder members of 'CALICO'. This year we are trying to raise as much as we can for the TSUNAMI EARTHQUAKE DISASTER. The event will be held at St Joseph's Hall Chapel St. Leigh as usual. Commencing at 7-30pm approx. Late Bar. The artistes appearing will be, the ever popular international star Bram Taylor, Pennygate, (a very talented duo), and of course 'CALICO'. Three of the members will be celebrating 25yrs since the group was formed. These members will remain nameless to avoid anyone guessing their ages. Every penny made will be forwarded to the appeal.

There will be a bar and the promise of a great night of entertainment.

Friday 22nd April John Howarth (of the Oldham Tinkers).
John Howarth is a brilliant entertainer in his own right, his with and his ability to entertain is second to none. Come and join us and have a great night of entertainment. Kick off 8-15pm
Friday 20th May Joe Topping.
Joe was first seen at the club on our last singer's night and we immediately offered him a booking, which he thankfully accepted. He is one of the most talented up and coming singer songwriters we have heard in a long time and has one of the most compelling voices we have heard. 'His songs are delivers with such warmth and sincerity it will take your breath away' (Chris While)
Friday 24th June Les Baker.
Back by popular demand. If you have never been to a night with LES BARKER you really are missing out he is one of the most sought after entertainers of our time. He is different, funny, and unique. Don't miss out, come and see for yourselves. Kick off 8-15pm
